QUESTIONS

Does acupuncture work?
Many health insurances are covering acupuncture, because many researches show that acupuncture can reduce costly surgeries and medications. Insurance companies would not cover for acupuncture, if it didn’t work.

After the acupuncture treatment, how quickly can I expect to feel better?
Acupuncture usually works instantly. Most people will feel the improvement during first treatment. This also means that you can usually find out if acupuncture can help you, after just one treatment.

Does it hurt?
Acupuncture needles are hair-thin, metallic, and solid. People experience acupuncture differently, but most feel no or minimal pain as the needles are inserted. Many people actually fall asleep during the treatment, because it makes them relax.

I’m just very afraid of the needles. Can you help me?
When our patient is unusually nervous about the needle, we let them try just one needle. If they don’t like it for any reason, they can stop the treatment right away and leave without any charge. In the past, only about 1 out of 100 people actually left after the first needle.

What are the needles like? Can I get infected?
FDA requires that the needles be sterile, nontoxic, and disposed of after a single use. We only use FDA approved sterile, disposable needles. They are only used once. These needles are carefully manufactured under the guidance of FDA. There is no risk of infection.

How many treatments do I need? How often should I come for the acupuncture treatment?
This depends on your condition. Some conditions can be treated with just one treatment. We also have patients that come in every week forever, because nothing else helps them. We can usually find out the number of treatments you need, after 3-4 sessions.

How might acupuncture work?
This is a very hard question to answer, because it uses very complex systems of our body. Basically, there are many pressure points that are connected throughout our body, and each point can stimulate different things including muscles, bones, joints, hormones, body temperature, blood circulation, and immune system.

Do you use herbs?
Yes. Herbs can enhance the acupuncture treatment. We first use acupuncture to see if you can get better. We then recommend herb, if you can benefit from it.

How much does it cost?
$65 per treatment.

How long is each session?
This depends on your condition. It could be anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour.

Does it include any extra services like massage and cupping?
No.

What should I wear when I come in for the treatment?
Loose, comfortable clothes.

Do I need fill out a form?
Yes, please come in 10 minutes early to fill out the form.

Do you accept insurance?
Most PPO plans are usually accepted. Please call your health insurance company to find out if your insurance covers Acupuncture.
